INFO: In 2001 (year of the Snake) the Skygreen Leopards began as a duo consisting of Glenn Donaldson and Donovan Quinn in the hobo-Victoria of San Francisco. We met in the park where wed both brought our acoustic guitars. I said do you know how to play that old spiritual There is an Island in the Sun? and he replied no. But I know Pilgrim from the Hinterlands and thus the SGLs were born. For the next few months we played in the park until a certain ranger busted us for corrupting an underage park mime . So far we've recorded an ep and 6 lps. In 2003 (year of the Ram) the Skyband was started for live performances. There's been several people that have soldiered our various hoedown's during that time. For the last couple of years Jasmyn Wong has played drums & Shayde Sartin has played bass. Good songs are hard to write, hard to find, and are unrelated to fashion. As Roderick says, "I like chairs that don't creak and songs that don't suck." There's a lot of music being made as an accessory now, but there will always be a need for actual songs. The Long Winters are working on making those, and with putting the days to bed, they most certainly have succeeded.

They couldn’t be more right. An obsession with making relevant songs mixed with equal parts of despair and hope has since 2001 been the main goal for the Mary Onettes. Signing with Sony/Bmg in 2005 and being dumped the same year after the release of “Make me last EP” didn’t really change anything. Instead of grieving the music industry, its lack of interest and break even mentality, the band, together with long time friend Poplars started building a music studio in the heart of Swedish town Göteborg and has since then been recording what will probably be their debut album.

Score!Guided By Voices, one of the most widely admired and influential rock groups of the 90s and beyond were famous for exactly two things. The first was — for complicated reasons — drinking beer, the second was writing an astounding quantity of really great rock songs, in a dizzying variety of styles and arrangements, and recording them on whatever equipment was at hand, whether boombox or four-track or professional recording studio. Chicago's Bound Stems is Dan Fleury (guitar), Bobby Gallivan (vocals, guitar), Janie Porche (vocals, guitar, sampler, violin, etc.), Dan Radzicki (bass, keys, vocals) and Evan Sult (drums, tapes). Fleury, Radz, and Bobby were friends from high school basketball on; Evan arrived from Seattle and Harvey Danger in September 2002. They started writing songs all the time, then playing out, then writing some more, and by the time Janie had completed the transition from friend to roommate to band member, The Logic of Building the Body Plan EP had been released by Flameshovel Records and they were deep into the construction of Appreciation Night, Bound Stems' debut full-length, also on Flameshovel.
