ARTIST / BAND: Lykke Li
ALBUM (mp3): The lost sessions vol. 1
FILE UNDER: Indie Pop, electroacustic,
INFO: I'd thought I'd give you this to put in your little players, either stick it in your ears or play it loud when the lights are low, mind weary and days rainy.
Remember; life is a process, no feeling is final.
There is no end and no beginning.
Yours truly always,
PS: If you like it you are welcome to spread it on those little Internet waves. Maybe send it like a little gift or a kindly flu filled kiss. What doesn't kill you makes you stronger. VOL . 1 ( !!!!!)

ARTIST / BAND: PACIFICUV
SONG (MP3): Funny Girl
INFO: pacificUV was formed in the late 1990’s in Athens, Georgia. Half the band wanted to sound like a psychedelic Jesus and Mary Chain tripping on Nyquil, while the other half wanted to play one chord for 45 minutes to determine its color. Somehow, what emerged from these disparate goals was their critically acclaimed, 4 years in the making, self-titled debut album, pacificUV that Rolling Stone called a “masterpiece”. The perfect mixture of noise and melody, the first L.P. was a sprawling ambient landscape that revealed a myriad of influences, from shoegaze to 60’s rock, to slow core to post-rock. read more from the source...

ARTIST / BAND: Mux Mool
SONGs (MP3): Palace Chalice / Raw Gore
ALBUM: Planet High School
FILE UNDER: electronic
LABEL: Ghostly International
INFO:I know it’s electronic music,” Brian Lindgren says, “but sometimes I feel like an old-timey traveling musician with an M-Audio Trigger Finger instead of a guitar.” As Mux Mool, Lindgren has been criss-crossing the country by himself for years, collecting records, loops, and samples, and rocking parties in towns both large and boondock-small. Lindgren is a self-confessed nerd to the bone, an incurable doodler, a Star Trek: The Next Generation fan; he lives on energy drinks and barely sleeps, spending his days working on music and his nights absorbing Internet memes by the hard-drive load. Mux Mool’s homespun electro hip-hop is the product of an introverted mind, an extroverted imagination, and a bottomless cultural appetite

ARTIST / BAND: Doldrums
ALBUM: Empire Sound
FILE UNDER: electronic, experimental, pop
LABEL: No Pain In Pop
INFO: Doldrums is a musical venture produced by Canadian artist Eric Woodhead. As a part of a larger community reacting to overhype, the plasticity of modern youth culture and it's ultimately alienating nature, his music deals with the loss of the individual in an increasingly altruistic society. Doldrums' music reflects this societal change on a personal level, as a member of the last generation to remember life pre-internet and 24 hour status updates. His androgynous voice comes across mid-panic attack, floating in a sea of chopped up samples, disembodied vocals and tribal percussion. Spearing between electro-hallucinogenic freak outs and languid nostalgia, his tracks somehow manage to elevate classic pop melodies above a sample saturated sound collage.

ARTIST / BAND: Other Lives
ALBUM: Tamer Animals
FILE UNDER: Folk, Folk-Rock, Indie Pop
LABEL: TBD Records
INFO: There’s no track this writer’s thrashed more this year than Other Lives’ single For 12. It’s suspenseful, dreamy and awestruck in equal measures, combining undulating strings (possibly Mellotron), lightly galloping Morricone rhythms, subtle shades of piano and acoustic guitar and vocals that run the gauntlet from sighing to falsetto. Imagine an eagle’s eye view over an unbroken stretch of Brokeback Mountain prairie. Or imagine Fleet Foxes influenced by Radiohead’s Pyramid Song. And if For 12 is the absolute jewel here, the rest isn’t far behind.

ARTIST / BAND: Sóley
SONG (MP3): I´ll Drown
ALBUM: We Sink
FILE UNDER: Indie
LABEL: morr music
INFO: This is the debut EP by Sóley Stefánsdóttir, a 23 year old girl from Reykjavik, student of composition and a member of the Icelandic indie-collective Seabear - it's the debut of a singer and a dreamer: Six songs held together by Sóleys piano play and her voice - because every of her compositions come into being while she is singing to the piano. Sóley loves this: by her own account she's actually singing all day long. On 'Theater Island' she uses a lot of instruments though: Strings, guitars or just some electronic crackles and noises.read more from the source...

ARTIST / BAND: Scuba
SONG (MP3): M.A.R.S. (Machinedrum Remix)
FILE UNDER: Electro, remix,
The one thing that Paul Rose, better known as Scuba, really doesnt want you to do is to try and pin him down. His roots are in Londons dubstep scene, but he lives in the techno metropolis of Berlin. His music is located at some unspecified point between those two cities - bass heavy, sparse, full of atmosphere and with propulsive rhythms, but above all impossible to define. His label, Hotflush, is one of dubsteps spiritual homes, with releases by Distance, Benga and Mount Kimbie, but it also has that hard-to-categorize quality Warp had in the 90s. He is, in a word, a maverick.

ARTIST / BAND: Zambri
SONG (MP3): Heather
FILE UNDER: vocal, Indie, dark, experimental, pop
LABEL: kanine records
INFO: For a first introduction into the world of Cristi Jo & Jessica Zambri, Kanine Records will be releasing Zambri’s debut EP “Glossolalia” on Nov. 8, 2011.
Zambri mixes experimental beats and dueling female vocals with captivating melodies to create unromantic love songs. Filled with gothic and avant-garde pop vocals, the songs might sound familiar, like a lost Siouxsie and the Banshees or Kate Bush classic, but they manage to bring it to an altogether new place. As if remixed by Gang Gang Dance, Zambri lands perfectly amid contemporaries Health, Grimes, Lykke Li, and The Knife.read more from the source...

ARTIST / BAND: Little Red
SONG (MP3): "Get A Life"
ALBUM: Midnight Remember
FILE UNDER:pop, Rock,
INFO:Melbourne’s have been away a while, growing up, growing down, tasting the sweet and the bittersweet in equal measures. The band now returns with the historically ‘difficult’ second album, but in this particular case they have delivered an album that is truly a quantum leap in songwriting and production. It is an inverse manifestation of the natural rock’n’roll order that stumps so many. Midnight Remember is a true accomplishment and a marked and impressive step forward in craft for primary songwriter Dominic Byrne. In the last 6 months the album has found an amazing breadth of fans in the band’s native Australia and on 10.25 it will finally see it’s remastered (with bonus tracks) release in the United States and Canada.read more from the source...
