INFO: The Living Blue, formerly known as The Blackouts, have been writing, performing, and recording music together for the past 6 years. In 2001 the band signed to a small independent label out of Chicago and released two records. The first in 2002, Everyday is a Sunday Evening and the second in 2004, Living in Blue. Over the past year the bands music was used in the WB's One Tree Hill, thus garnering attention from Chicago Indie label Minty Fresh Records. The band recently signed with Minty Fresh and are currently preparing a follow up to Living in Blue. With an intense, passionate live show and a knack for sonic devilery, the Living Blue play their interpretation of 60's/70's psych R&B with an artistic quality. Alternative Press gave their 2004 release, Living in Blue, a 5 out of 5 rating in their February issue.

INFO: As an ingenieur for psychoacoustic models for customized androids, Mr. Incognito brought already some of his creations to the outer world, in form of 12" releases (Sleepy city, Dirty Dancing (released under other other moniker). You can find his records in some record stores in the UK or at suburbantrash mailorder.His great musical love relations can be stated as synthesizer sounds, cryptic rhytms and, in another sphere, original 303 sounds. But his repertoire is much brighter. Funny tracks, spacey tracks, session tracks and more are slacking on his data media for being released. But not only tracks are possible. He plaid to date live at WEF Warszawa, at the Klinik Löbau, at Trocken-Klar Audioasyl netcast, at Audiolab Dresden and at a microscope session Dresden Hellerau, mostly with unreleased and especially prepared material.

Improvised here and there, with a synthesizer guest appearance of R2D2. ;-) The sounds' occasional dirty quality is very much intended. If you imagine a pub in 'Star Wars', exactly this music would be playing there. '3130351 volt' is Kryptic Universe's debut album. Even though several labels were interested in the album, he ended up picking Phonocake for the release. We are happy about it and say 'thank you'.

INFO: Trickform – This is the one man project of Martin Enke, born 1982 in Dresden, residing in Leipzig. His musical creations have been inspired by the styles of the masters afx, boc and cco. Playing music as a techno dj years ago, he decided around 2002 to play around and experiment with music and use his fascination for the magic of the sound waves. As Trickform, he’s had quite a few releases on the netlabel Tonatom. One of his tracks can be found on the Sleepy City compilation “7 seals of suburban city”, one of his remixes on the e.stonji 7” “Where to go”. He has performed live at the Schleife 9 in Dresden and also in Ulm.In the future, he’ll focus his interest on acoustic sounds as a base for digital productions, specifically electric guitars, violins and flutes that are altered during the recording or in real time. For these kinds of sounds, he might come up with a new name for his project, or maybe it will be an evolution of Trickform.

Socks and Sandals' musical style is raw and weird minimal techno with a heavy emphasis on danceable grooves. The live show is always fun, involving improvised vocals and live sampling.

INFO: The two tracks in this release represent a collaborative project by Line Noise and Algo Rythem, and they are titled : "Deadwine Marquekon" and "Aqua Elevation". The prevalent feel across Deadwine Marquekon is of an ear-glitching guitar introduction, which then moves into a breakbeat industrial-like feel across the rest of the track.
In Aqua Elevation the style across the track dwells in a breakbeat-oriented fashion for most of the track, and is then coated with a few effects scattered throghout. Both of these tracks are similar in that they dwell mostly in the dark upbeat realm, and evoke rhythmic head nodding motions.

Fuzzed out psych excursions, eminently infectious melodies, hand-clap break downs, and star-shine vocal harmonizing (often all in the same song) belie an underlying deftness of arrangement and composition. INFO: It was Summer of 2001 on Matador Beach in Malibu, California when Michael Leviton first sat with a ukulele and a pretty girl and performed his ukulele love songs. The girl was charmed but not successfully wooed. Nevertheless, this leisurely summer romance blossomed into a magnificent obsession: not with the girl, but with ukulele love songs.
By the time Michael relocated to New York at the end of the Summer of 2002, he had composed fifteen nautically-themed ukulele love songs specifically for beach concerts before audiences of one. Michael’s ukulele seductions reached their climax with his composition “For Lydia”. Tragically, Lydia was like the others before her: charmed but not wooed.
Of course, one question remains: why is Michael so ocean obsessed? “The songs were written specifically to play on the beach, so it seemed natural to reference the beach and ocean in the lyrics. I just went a bit overboard,” he says. “Also, my last name ‘Leviton’ comes from ‘Leviathan’. Do you think that might have something to do with it?”

Already having been celebrated by spots on Billboard and Rolling Stone bands-to-watch lists, as well as appearances on WXPN's World Café in Philadelphia and Steve Lamacq's Music Show on the BBC, opening slots with the Arcade Fire and Black Keys, and Snow Patrol, plus their ACL Festival appearance, their debut CD, trying to never catch up, lands the band at the top of their game and ready to take on the world.

INFO: I met Smoosh in the year 2000 while working part time for a music store selling drums three days a week. I spent another three days a week teaching drums at the Seattle Drum School just a little bit north of the store. Customers would often come in looking for resource materials or the name of an instructor, and I knew the store was a good place to build a clientele. Denise James' new LP, IT'S NOT ENOUGH TO LOVE, is a singer/songwriter album of a rare category. A South American venture involving a young group from Sao Paulo, a sudden sense of urgency and movementwithout a proper narrative, how could it happen? Where to begin? The official press release offers scattered insight, and translated from the original Portuguese, it remains a lively romp around the English language: "Taking the fact of not knowing how to play their instruments as a challenge for creativity, the group started to risk small shows in the night clubs that feed Sao Paulo underground." Skip back to Sao Paulo, circa 2003: A band comes together not with any presumptions or typical formulas, but by meeting at clubs and photologs (some sort of social networking sites focused on sharing photos and video, and apparently quite popular in Brazil), deciding to try something new.

Her debutalbum "Spending time with morgan" got great reviews and was released all over Europe in 2003. It was nominated in the Swedish Independent music awards "Manifest" 2003. Her second album "A Temporary dive" was released in Europe in 2005 and after only 3 weeks it sold gold in her home country Norway. In November 2005 she released "Duets", an album consisting of 10 duets with 10 wonderful artists.

Ringleader Clayton Scoble shares Stephen Malkmus' droll mid-register vocal delivery and skewed pop sensibility, absent Pavement's hipper-than-thou aura. Francine's letter-perfect hooks and clever wordplay also recall Fountains of Wayne -- "Silverplated 606" opens with the line, "You're like a tracer fired from a certain undiscovered Yes record coveresque landscape," which somehow winds up rhymed with "stocking up on Beta tape."

The group had its origin in late 1999 when Christopher Tucker -- pumped full of prescription opiates having just been discharged from the hospital after being jumped and beaten -- bumped into an old friend from Delaware, Joe Castro, at a Beck/Oasis show; Tucker had nicknamed him “Joey Marr” because of his agile guitar playing, referring to The Smiths’ renowned guitarist. The two agreed to try to form a band and started working together when Christopher impetuously left for Los Angeles with four hundred dollars at three A.M. in the middle of a blizzard sometime in January 2000.

Acknowledging the bands 80s era influence and its male/female rapport, the New York Press termed them a lush, new-wave, indie-pop, boy-girl group.
