TRANSISTOR KIDS

SONG (MP3): TRANSISTOR KIDS
ALBUM: Insound Digital Exclusive
FILE UNDER: Pop / Rock / Shoegaze

INFO: "The Foundry Field Recordings' debut is the form that indie rock will take when the government androids move in next door. The Columbia, MO foursome and producer Barry Hibdon tirelessly trick out each catchy track. Billy Schuhs lyrics deal with bleak takes on world war ('Warning Raids Of Kiev'), artificial intelligence ('Clones Were Made For Them, But Not For Us) and technology ('Circuits On Board'), so its up to his fragile tenor to inject the humanity. Even if 'everything is burning down,' Schuh almost sounds cheery on 'Holding The Pilots/Holding The Facts,' which solders together Head On The Door-era Cure guitar, Benjamin Hooks vibrant drum work and some ominous horns. The slow tearjerker 'Broken Strings' switches the mode to piano, acoustic guitar and (yes!) strings. 'Red heart sticker adorns your sweater,' Schuh sings. 'His is broken, it suits you better/See-through skin is all the rage.' Prompts/Miscues is a unified piece wired directly into the timeless sound of lovesickness. If Big Brother is listening atleast he is tapping his foot." - CMJ - Reed Fischer
