INFO: Athens, Georgia's Summer Hymns arose several years ago from singer/guitarist Zachary Gresham's need for an outlet for songs not suited for a typical rock band. Many of these songs were informed by his experiences playing piano and singing hymns and folk songs at at his grandmother's house in rural Georgia. With that as the base for his songs, he added flavors inspired by contemporary artists like Neil Young, Robert Wyatt, Yo La Tengo, and Smog, and Summer Hymns was born.

INFO: TPC formed in 2005 while playing for fun in a basement after the four had disbanded from a previous group they had been playing in. From here they started to gain attention and played some small shows throughout the Toronto area. With a buzz forming in Montreal, TPC was asked to play in the Pop Montreal festival, and soon after, they signed with Toronto label Paper Bag Records.
The band released its debut EP, A Lesson in Crime, in 2006 on Paper Bag Records. They recently appeared on the Edgefest bill in the summer of 2006, and toured both Canada and the United States. They also appeared on the inaugural Osheaga Festival bill in September 2006. In April 2007, they performed at the Coachella music festival in Indio, California.

The band was formed during the New York transit strike of 2005, when a chance meeting in a taxi carpool introduced a group of young musicians to one another. During the fateful ride through morning rush hour, they discovered their shared affinity for the music of Stax Records and artists such as ESG, Harry Nillson, Big Star, David Bowie, and Yanni. INFO: Bringing together the seemingly disparate sounds of dark, synthy electro-pop of the 1980s and guitar-based classic rock makes it difficult to put a finger on the sound of Knoxville, Tennessee’s Angel and the Love Mongers. Formed in the spring of 2004 by singer/guitarist Angel Zuniga and drummer Eric Nowinski, Angel and Eric were drawn together due in part to their diverse approach to music.
Angel, who takes many of his musical cues from alternative dance bands of the 80’s, such as Depeche Mode and Erasure, is a former actor and model that confesses to have spent his formative years in front of a mirror practicing his dance moves instead of playing air guitar. Eric, on the other hand, who cut his musical teeth on The Beatles and spent his youth playing air guitar to Queen and Cheap Trick recently gave up his career as a trial lawyer to pursue music. At first glance, this would appear to be a musical mismatch of cosmic proportions. However, this diametrically opposed approach to music is one of the things that allow Angel and the Love Mongers to create such a unique, bracing sound.

Brothers Nick (24) and Peter Furgiule (22), along with Pete Delorenzo (26) and Matt McCalvin (24) have continually built steam by crisscrossing the US and England, honing their chops on rock and roll's frontline.
Crafting an art-damaged and intense presence, the group's sound falls somewhere between the Animals, Motown, and The Kinks: sexy, humble, and unmovable. In person, the group's soft-spoken demeanor instills a sense of alluring mystery. But on-stage Gringo Star explodes. Never ones to hang on to the same instruments for too long, on-stage each member of the group sprints and hurdles from station to station, swapping out guitar for bass for drums for voice. INFO: Over the Rhine (also occasionally referred to as OtR) is an Ohio-based musical band, the current core of which is the husband-and-wife team of bassist/pianist/guitarist Linford Detweiler and vocalist/guitarist Karin Bergquist. Originally a quartet with guitarist Ric Hordinski and drummer Brian Kelley, Over the Rhine is now solely the married-duo of Linford Detweiler and Karin Bergquist with "hired guns" on albums and tours. Linford and Karin were not married at the foundation of the band. The band's namesake and place of origin is the Cincinnati, Ohio neighborhood Over-the-Rhine. Karin attended school in Barnesville, Ohio and graduated from Barnesville High School in 1984. She then went to Malone College, located in Canton, Ohio, where she met Linford. They have both toured and recorded in many shapes and forms. Over the years, the band has opened for a number of musicians, including Bob Dylan, and toured as "adjunct" members of Cowboy Junkies.

INFO: Robbers on High Street are an indie rock band from New York, New York. They began playing in public, and building a buzz on the NYC scene, during the summer of 2002. But the band's roots stretch back much farther. Ben Trokan and Steve "Sparky" Mercado have been friends since their preteen years growing up in the upstate New York town of Poughkeepsie. After high school, Ben moved to New York, where he met and began playing with Tomer Danan. Back in Poughkeepsie, Steve reconnected with Jeremy Phillips, an old school friend. Robbers on High Street—the name came from the lyric of one of the band's early, discarded compositions—was officially born when the four began playing together.
