RICHARD REAGH FEAT. EL PERRO DEL MAR

RICHARD REAGH FEAT. EL PERRO DEL MAR
SONG (MP3): HANGIN' ON A LIMB
ALBUM: "Is This The Blues I'm Singing?"
FILE UNDER: Electronica / Pop / R&B
INFO: Canadian-born Swedish resident Richard Reagh’s music divides itself into two layers: at the bottom you’ll find a balanced blend of crackles, tinkles, squeaks, techno drums and trumpets with the vocals floating around over top. His melancholy talking and singing sounds like a choirboy almost stuttering his words making the whole thing sound like the British sample-o-phonics, The Go! Team.
In the music, there’s embedded textual and sound references, like the line, “I live on the second floor” from Suzanne Vega’s “Luka”. Or “Ring my Bell” with Anita Ward’s voice mixed together with a piece from an American gangster movie; or something like that.
Sometimes chirping birds, sometimes Limahl; sometimes REM and falsetto singing with Montt Mardié. It’s perfect game for a boring party: who can find the most unexpected ingredients at this smorgasbord’s of sounds?
