Info: Over the past few years, the North Carolina-based Kingsbury Manx have quietly built up an unassailable discography. Their fourth full-length, The Fast Rise and Fall of the South continues the streak. Produced by Wilco's Mikael Jorgensen, the album retains the mysterious, earthy sound of the band's previous work, while adding a more deliberately arranged and mature sensibility to the proceedings. The result is about as close as we'll ever get to a pre-breakdown Syd Barrett recording an album with Notorious Byrds Brothers-era Byrds.
