INFO: The Mendoza Line formed in Athens, Georgia in 1996 when Timothy Bracy, Peter Hoffman, and Paul Deppler, sharing a common love of such classic songwriters as Dylan, Costello, and Richard Thompson, sought to distill these influences into a sound falling somewhere between those of the two greatest pop bands of their formative years—American Music Club and the Replacements. After embracing and repelling various other members, Tim, Pete, and Paul were joined in 1998 by Shannon Mary McArdle, a girl with an outstanding working knowledge of the folk/country tradition and an unalloyed affection for the songs of the Brill Building and Roy Orbison.

INFO: Dale was born in Coleraine, Northern Ireland to an Irish father and a Scottish mother and started his first band Catchers while at school. Their first single ‘Cotton Dress’ came out on Setanta Records and became single of the week in Melody Maker. Their debut album ‘Mute’ was recorded with Mike Hedges in France. Dale went on to tour with Pulp, Edwyn Collins, The Divine Comedy, Dr. John and Oasis. Catchers recorded their second album ‘Stooping to Fit’ with Nick Drake’s arranger Robert Kirby writing string and brass section parts for some of the songs.

INFO: It all started as a few musical file transfers from laptop to laptop in a van while touring Europe as the band Engine Down, and ended as a full-blown album of musical compositions by means of the internet from opposite corners of America. Glös started as Keeley Davis (former frontman of Engine Down and bass/synth player for Denali) and Cornbread Compton (former drummer of Engine Down, Biology, and currently Heavens). Many years of playing in Engine Down together proved the duo had a naturally unique style of meshing melody and rhythm. When the discovery of song creation on computers became a reality, the two found strength and freedom in writing separately and then collaborating. Adding to each other's songs as if they were created mutually in the same room was natural and noticeable.

The problem he kept running into with his high school bands was keeping a drummer. It didn't help that his mother didn't want him to ever play the drums due to all the noise it would make in the house. He was on Lake Braddock's Math Team and claimed to be "pathetically happy" upon defeating the math team of Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology one year.[1]

INFO: Bodies of Water started in David and Meredith’s closet. They were newly married and lived in a very small house. The closet was the only place to put the computer that they used to record songs. They were content doing this for a while but eventually decided to send these songs out into the world. The first step was to form a musical group. Meredith had never played a piano before but she was willing to give it a shot. She had known Kyle for a decade or so and he decided to try playing the bass. Jessie was a new friend from Arizona who was making a big splash in LA. They all thought that since she was a gifted dancer she would make a good drummer, and so Jessie learned to drum.

INFO: Holy Fuck is a lo-fi improvisational electronica band from Toronto, Canada. They are a part of Dependent Music, a music label/collective that began in Yarmouth, Nova Scotia in 1994, and have been called "Toronto's evil supergroup"[1],
The band uses live instrumentation and miscellaneous instruments and non-instruments (including a 35 mm film sequencer) to achieve electronic-sounding effects without the use of laptops or programmed backing tracks. According to Pitchfork Media, "The band was formed with the intent of creating the equivalent of modern electronic music without actually using the techniques-- looping, splicing, programming and the like-- of that music."
