This edition of Muzorama explores psychedelia not as a revival, but as a language that has escaped its original genre.
Across the selection, psychedelic ideas appear in very different forms: through folk, jazz, dub, kraut-inspired repetition, experimental pop, electronic production and global musical traditions. The common thread is less about vintage references and more about altered perception — repetition, unusual spatial production, unstable structures, acoustic instruments treated electronically, and music that gradually dissolves the boundaries between song, groove and atmosphere.
The journey moves from the hypnotic global grooves of VuVuVu feat. Mervealice, Dos Santos and Manuela Ocampo, through the dreamier worlds of Baby Cool and Aldous Harding, into the more fractured and experimental terrain of Wavering, BLKE and Moon Attendant.
Further on, Yanuka, Misha Panfilov, Anadol & Marie Klock and Laraaji expand psychedelia through jazz, folk memory, analogue electronics and improvisation, while foodman pushes the final section toward a more synthetic and disorienting space.
Rather than looking backwards to psychedelic rock, Muzorama 050926 follows a contemporary underground tendency in which psychedelia becomes a method: a way of stretching rhythm, texture, memory and form.
