Night Driving In Small Towns

ARTIST / BAND: Night Driving In Small Towns
MP3: "Come & Tell Me" "Barstool"
ALBUM: Serial Killer
LABEL: Lower 40 Records
INFO: Night Driving in Small Towns are land dwellers. Having moved from small south Georgia towns to the city of Atlanta in 2008, the band has seen its share of topography. So has their music. Having navigated the spaces between artsy folk pop and brazen indie rock, their sound is sometimes gutsy, sometimes reserved, but always premeditated.

The Mary Onettes

MP3: The Night Before The Funeral
ALBUM: single
FILE UNDER: Indie / Pop / Rock
LABEL: Labrador
INFO: Starting out in the Swedish town of Jönköping in 2000, The Mary Onettes has since then been on a long journey containing a few downhill slopes and a lot of brick walls. The band was drawn together much due to their common interest for the 80´s and the 90´s music, with bands such as the Stone Roses and the Cure. The band first years weren’t unlike most bands, members came and went and their sound changed from one week to another.

To Rococo Rot

ARTIST / BAND: To Rococo Rot

SONG (MP3): Horses

ALBUM: Speculation

FILE UNDER: IDM / Electronica

LABEL: Domino

INFO:"Horses" is the first offering from the new record, and the serene track features a bubbling synth intermingling with light percussion and pastoral melodies. These days it seems like anyone with a budget bedroom setup can crank out a mellow tune and slap the "chill" label on it, but To Rococo Rot is still showing us how the pros like to get down.

INFO: At the time I suggested maybe those dense, colorful canvasses had something to do with “Decision”’s denser, bolder vibe than the Brooklyn/Köln crew’s whispered offerings. I stand by that. After watching this visually rich Jamie Harley-directed video, you’ll have some other angles.
